Hopefully you have seen some of my stories of some of the adventures I have been having while away. One thing that does not change for me on vacation is exercise, mainly because it keeps me grounded and on a good routine. The exercise level might change based on where I travel too (shorter runs, yoga, quick hotel gym workouts), but I still make sure to get it in. ⠀

Although I am focusing on exercise after long flights right now, it is still very much applicable for day to day life. We sadly live in a world where it is not uncommon to have an hour commute to and from work and then sitting all day at a desk. While sitting so long, our bodies just don’t function to their highest capacity, blood pools, joints stiffen, muscles atrophy, oxygen saturation goes down, energy levels decrease; the list goes on. So do yourself a favour, get up and move every hour if you can. Even if it means just standing up and stretching just for two minutes. The change in posture is good for you. Remember… Motion is Lotion! ⠀

It's important to recognize when your mattress no longer provides the support your body needs, which can lead to aches and pains.  Try these two tests:
.
- Lay a rigid object, like a meter stick, across your bed.  If yoiu are able to fit your hand in the gap between the object and your mattress, this indicates that your maattress is sagging.
- Place a marbel in various places on your bed.  If it rolls toward the center of your mattress every time, this is also an indication of sagging, meaning it's time to look for a new one.

We worked on tightening up her mechanics on the mat from the ground up to help her generate better force production

All these were her first attempts at these exercises - after 3 days of wiring in the foundations: from posture & decompression techniques to weight distribution and loading proper tensions thru relevant (horizontal) force vectors that actually translate into 3 dimensional movement before finally hitting these dynamic sequences to tie it all together

We all have our scapegoats. My life is spent trying to find out where my scapegoats are. When all is said and done, the only person I can blame for my problems is me. Why? Because I am the only person I have control over. Surely, I can influence the decisions of others. Whether they buy in to my ideology is subject to how congruent I am with my message, and whether or not my knowledge stands to help others. .

When I fail, I put it on me. I can always do better, even if it appears to not be my fault. If something fucked up happens in society, I own it because I can take action to learn from that lesson. Examples of what not to do in this world are plentiful, leaving only new options not traveled before to test out.

For those who use me as a scapegoat, you're gonna eventually have to take a self reflective look in the mirror and ask yourself why Naudi is to blame for your life's mishaps. Is it really me? If I changed my attitude to serve yours, would the world really be a better place? Or would it be a place where people respect each other's opinions, despite how useless or irrelevant they might be? A place where people continue business as usual at the expense of the public's health? .

People are gonna own their problems. I'm set to ensure this is what my mission is and will continue to be until type 1 is realized.

A #snapshot of a day in the life of a #workingmom!

The scenario: I get up on a Saturday to do my 1st official photoshoot for the business. I don’t have childcare for this particular day & I am nervous because I have 2 very active & curious little boys to account for. 
I hold multiple “pep-rally” conversations with them prior about how IF they don’t get into trouble for these few hours, they will be HANDSOMELY rewarded! We come armed with their iPads & headphones. I feel guilty, but I know it will only be for a few hours & we will go to the park afterwards.... It’s like my 7-year-old was planning this EXCELLENT #PHOTOBOMB! 

That AM, he decided to “dress up” & INSISTED on wearing a #BOWTIE ! I didn’t think anything of it because both of #myboys can be very funny guys! I should have KNOWN BETTER!..... Anyway, here we are doing a few cool, fun maneuvers. (No, I DO NOT do this with most people!...) Théo saw his chance, was as quick as a FLASH, had perfect positioning as well as timing, & he MADE HIS MOVE!

What a #hilarious & memorable photo this is!!! Luckily, except for this photobomb (& a few other quickly selected repeats from him,) both of my boys were really pretty good on this day!

But I am very glad that they have school or daycamp often & I don’t have to worry about juggling them at work most of the time!🤸‍️ Do any of you working parents have similar stories or recollections?!? Kids can #keepyouonyourtoes ! Tell us your funny stories below!!! Thank goodness Pilates keeps mama in good shape to run around after them ‍️during their weekends & breaks! (P.S.... Two alternative ITB techniques. I’m not super into foam rolling but I do think it has its place in rehab for certain things (and it can’t hurt, so no major downside). I am too wimpy for traditional roll up and down the ITB. This variation is for people like me.

And then here’s a variation of the variation depending on if you want to hold up your body weight with your shoulder or not. Benefit of holding your weight is that you can work up and down the roll easier. Laying down you can too, you just have to reset and replace each time.

The PSOAS is an incredible piece of tissue!

Releasing and giving some love to this muscle can help to:
- Decrease lower back pain.
- Strengthen the core.
- Reduce trauma.
- Correct posture.
- Open energy channels.
.
Interestingly there is so much more to the Psoas than just being a muscle.
.
• Physiologically - it is the only muscle which connects the upper to the lower body.
.
If the muscles of the core are not engaged and working properly, the Psoas can become over-active and create an anterior tilt of the pelvis having an effect on back pain.
.
• Emotionally - It works as a messenger to and from the brain and a vessel of deeply rooted feelings.
.
It is thought that the Psoas is involved in the storage of emotions and closely related to the ‘Limbic Brain’ and innovated by the Lumbar Plexus nerve.
.
• Spiritually - It is related to the lower ‘root chakras’.
.
It is said in some traditions that the Psoas effects the flow of life force and energy within the body.

UTILIZING ACTIVE RECOVERY⠀
.⠀
When thinking about recovery from exercise, you should first prioritize your major pillars.⠀
 Training Volume / Fatigue Management⠀
 Sleep (6-8 hours with good quality)⠀
 Nutrition (adequate to your performance, health, and body composition goals)⠀
 Hydration (please drink some water)⠀
 Stress (minimize stressors and spend time with your personal stress relievers)⠀
.⠀
When you have those dialed in, we can focus more on things that make you subjectively feel better.⠀
.⠀
One of those is active recovery.⠀
.⠀
While some people feel best with total rest on their days off, many find that they stay loose, reduce soreness, and overall feel better if they do some form of activity.⠀
.⠀
As is the case with all exercise prescription, the stimulus and fatigue we get is going to come from our volume and intensity.⠀
.⠀
And this is where we can go away with active recovery...by working to a point of creating more fatigue to recover from.⠀
.⠀
So some guidelines to programming active recovery are to keep the intensity low and the volume low to moderate.⠀
.⠀
Now the absolute numbers of course will be different person to person, but a guideline that I like to find we is that you should be able to maintain a conversation as you work and you should leave the session feeling more refreshed than exhausted.⠀
.⠀
In the case of the video above, I performed a circuit of 5 exercises using an empty bar, each performed for 1 minute (5 minute total circuit), repeated for 4 total rounds with 2 minutes rest between rounds.⠀
.⠀
This kept things to a low intensity, aerobic level, and I left feeling more refreshed at the end, meaning I got what I wanted out of it.⠀
.⠀

So if you plan to utilize some active recovery on your nontraining days be sure to keep the goal the goal and don't induce more fatigue. Keep it easy. Keep it short. And leave refreshed.⠀

Hope everyone had an amazing summer! As September is fast approaching, and most people are either going back to school or getting back to work, we need to have a discussion about POSTURE. 
Disclaimer: there's no such thing as perfect posture, and it's unrealistic to hold an ideal posture for the whole day. But here are a few tips to keep in mind throughout your day.

Panel 1 : notice how her chin is pointing forward, shoulders are rounded forward, and her low back is slouched down. This common posture tends to put strain on your neck and low back tissues.

Panel 2 ️: gently tucking your chin in, squeeze your shoulder blades back, and gently engaging your core can alleviate the strain on your body from prolonged sitting

Panel 3: ideally, a standing desk can help address ongoing pain from prolonged sitting. It gives you freedom throughout the day to change your posture whenever you feel tired
