Spent the past couple of days hiking + camping in the Sierra Nevada mountains and wakesurfing at Lake Tahoe for the first time. It’s been SOSO fun, my body is surprisingly v sore, and MY GOSH the alpines are a wonderland!  Outdoor activities are keeping me in functional shape (and pit stopping to weight-train on the road to make sure the gym muscles still work too!) heheStrength has gone down a little, but cardio endurance (and joy) keep going upppp.
Here was my leg day workout—simple but super effective! 
WEIGHTS
•Walking Dumbbell Lunges 20x4
•Squats 12x4
•Deadlifts 12x4
Followed by burning them thighss out with: .
HIIT:
•Jump Squats 20
•Jumping Jacks (50)
•High Knees (50)
•Box Jumps (10)
Repeat 4x

Happy Friday, IT’S DATE NIGHT ! Get it?!?  Here’s how to make Coconut Date Truffles—a super simple, no-bake dessert or energy snack!!!!  #karinaskitchen.🤪

•Blend 1/3 cup cashews+ 1/3 cup shredded coconut+ *optional 4 dark chocolate squares. •Hand mix with 12 chopped pitted dates + 1 tablespoon coconut oil + *optional peanut butter. (If dough becomes too runny, sprinkle a little bit of oatmeal or coconut flour!) •Form into bite-sized balls and roll them in coconut flakes. • Refrigerate until hard and enjoyyy! TASTES like FUDGE!

A few people have asked if I’m still alive... and my parents almost filed a missing persons report... LOL YAAS I’m alive and thriving!!!Just now coming back from a spontaneous 2 week road trip and it was the adventure of a lifetime (and I have a hunch it’s just begun). Been a little MIA because I’ve been taking it all in. It feels real good to disconnect to reconnect—I’ve never felt quite THIS connected and grounded. HALLELUJAH!  In the truest sense, the world around you is just more you.

We survived to say we hiked the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado river and back up in a day (~16 miles with 4500 ft of elevation change in 100 degree weather... in impressive timing might I add ~6.5 hrs)️, I climbed my first summit at City of Rocks, Idaho, we went to National Parks- Zion and Capitol Reef, we went to hidden gems that looked nice on Google maps-Valley of Fire, Park City, Lake Powell and Sedona (wow Arizona you’re magical!), and we stopped to find new trails to hike, (take selfies), and camp all along the way. heheh.

The little things were the most special— picnic lunches under trees, chatting with animals, smiling at strangers, showering in rivers, singing and dancing like kids, making homemade meals by an open fire (learning how to chop wood and make a fire, GO ME!), sleeping under the stars, waking up with the sunrise (most days)... OHHH it was nonstop fun 🤗... and I learned you don’t need much to do it. My hair is longer, my skin is clearer, my muscles more functional... for coming off the road, I think it’s the best shape I’ve ever been in & I feel truly, deeply, happy #fromtheinsideout. Society pushes a lot on us but all that really matters is our health and happiness and nature is free + ZE BEST medicine. (ok fine adventure bae helps too). 🤪... loving life a lot lately. 🦊

Ok I know I’m already a little loca🤪 but I’ve been feeling a lotta loca and an overwhelming amount of pressure lately!  And I know I’m not alone. .

Whenever I focus on external factors like ‘likes’ and body image and trying to be my idealized self or what social
media thinks I should be, I always fall short. We are alll human, none of us are immune to insecurities, and perfection simply doesn’t exist. But you know what is magnetizing and electric... and sexy af?? ENERGY. .

AND THERE IS SO MUCH MAGIC IN MOVEMENT. Which is why I exercise for emotional fitness and focus on the feeling and the endorphins and performance based training. When I allow my body to fully express itself —thru flexibility, strength, speed— I gain gratitude for what my muscles can do rather than how I look. 10000% more rewarding and freeeing! (The body is a bonus). End rant. You gotta sweat to sparkle, keep doing it #fromtheinsideout.  @gymshark

I think when you’re younger, you may believe it’s to “make it” or to be desirable. But you tick a few of those boxes and then what?? .

I’ve learned thru experience that no amount of Instagram likes or magazine covers or sponsorships or awards or attention from cute boys will ever ever trump the way YOU feel about YOU. TACO THURSDAY?! Here’s how to make one of my favorite healthy meals. It’s so wholesome, bright, and fruity... like me?lolll. #KARINASKITCHEN🥑. .

For the Tacos- Combine sautéed shrimp+chopped pineapple+avocado+diced tomato on a lettuce leaf. This is the absolute best combo of tropical flavors and youmust try!!! optional: sriracha sauce on everytingggg! . .

For the Homemade Plantain Chips- slice 1 green plantain vertically and then into thin chip-like pieces. Bake w/coconut oil on 350 degrees for 20 minutes (turning them over halfway). Mash 2 avocados, a squeeze of lemon juice + a pinch of salt for some side guac. If you haven’t made your own chips, today is the day you should experiment. It’s so fun, easy + de.li.cious. .

I like to end on a sweet note with watermelon topped with tajin (a Mexican condiment that tastes tangy, salty + spicy all at the same time). YUM! 🤤

I honestly looked up this recipe for selfish reasons as it’s always my go-to café when I go to a cute cocktail for brunch. It’s so refreshing, dangerously delicious and surprisingly simple to recreate at home (without having to spend $20 a pop).  Combine 1 part 100% orange juice to 1 part 100% carrot juice.  Add a squeeze of lime + grated ginger. Over-pour TEQUILAAAA to your liking. Now have alll the fun!!!🤪(song: 40 day dream by edward sharpe)

Bunny hops (50), Jump lunges (20), High knees (50), Tuck jumps (20), Jump switch squats (20). Repeat 3-5x. I personally love simple moves for body weight plyometrics because it lets me focus on intensity/exertion rather than choreography. I like to keep those fun moves for dancing in between sets. (Make sure to land light on your feet on the way down from each jump to protect your knees). Gooood luck this one will get ya sweaty + (smelly!!!) @gymsharkwomen @annielonglife

Combine 2 eggs + 1 mashed medium banana and/or sweet potato- I made both. (THAT’S LITERALLY IT). Cook w/coconut oil so it’s easier to flip + top w/ your fave fruit, yogurt, granola, honey, etc. ️PS!
